About Creativity and Action

Don’t let this happen to you

Hello, and thank you for turning to this page.

What is creativity? Are we all creative? What conditions are needed to foster it? How valuable is it? And just what might be a serviceable definition of this mysterious word?

About me and creativity

Christopher Richards

I was lucky enough to get some early training in creativity. I trained as an artist in the British art school system where individuality was encouraged. That was a long time ago, but I have been interested in the subject of creativity since. I learned a creative process by doing. Creativity is a way to uncover possibilities. I believe it is a fundamentally different way of being in the world. For me, it’s a way of seeing, and the source of my humor.

It was later though an Open University program I first encountered “creativity” as a topic for study. More than twenty years ago I read Edward de Bono’s book on lateral thinking, and became familiar with Tony Buzan’s work.

These authors still inform my work as a commercial writer and marketing consultant. In today’s dynamic environment businesses need to embrace creativity more than ever.
